11mm Milky Red Spade Beads [15]
Style no.: G1808
Cost per bead: 25 cents
Bead material: Glass
Country of origin: Czech Republic
Size/shape: 11mm (long) x 8mm (wide) x 6mm (thick) rounded spade-shaped beads with the hole running sideways through the narrow end (or "handle").
Colors/description: A combination of opaque satiny bright-red glass and clear glass. Most of each bead is red.
Hole size: 1mm (estimated).
Defects: The beads appear to be in good shape. Indeed, the smooth beads that I get from this supplier often have no defects at all.
How photographed: At the window in natural daylight.
Comments: Modern digital cameras do not photograph reds very well, so my picture doesn't show the subtle variations in colors in these beads, or the satiny texture of the glass. I'm using the term "milky" to describe these beads, but it isn't the semi-opaque milkiness of opalescent glass; rather, there is something milky about the way the satiny red glass mixes with the clear glass.
