Size/shape: |
4mm "English" cut beads. The English cut is similar to the bicone shape, but seems to have one side which is flat. (See "Defects" below.) |
Colors/description: |
Clear beads with an amethyst-purple coating on part of the bead, and then some copper color applied to part of each bead. |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
"English" cut beads never have perfect facets. In fact, I suspect that the facets are molded and not cut, but I'm not sure. The irregularity of the appearance seems to be part of their charm. |
How photographed: |
Under daylight-balanced lamps. |
Comments: |
As stated in Defects above, English-cut beads are very irregular, even to the point of appearing defective. Their irregularity seems to be part of their charm. They look like they might have been nibbled on by mice. I purchased these beads by mistake. I didn't realize that I already had the F652 beads. However, these beads look sufficiently different to post them together. The facets on English-cut beads are molded, not cut by blades, so I gave these beads a "G" number (for "glass"). However, at other times I have given them an "F" number (for "faceted glass"). |
