Cost per bead: |
12 cents |
Bead material: |
Glass |
Country of origin: |
Czech Republic |
Size/shape: |
8mm round beads with rounded flutes (grooves); these are also called "melon" beads. |
Colors/description: |
Reddish bronze with hints of purple here and there (the purple portion is the "iris" coating). |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
The beads appear to be in good shape. |
How photographed: |
Under two daylight-balanced lamps. Note: Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped. In the case of melon beads, with their rounded fluted, you get more than just two reflections; I'm counting about five reflections on each bead. |
Comments: |
I really like these rich-looking beads. The reddish bronze color has evolved. In the early days, it was somewhat dull-looking. But now it is rich and shiny, and they throw in some purple to make it more interesting. |
