Bead material: |

Country of origin: |

Size/shape: |
4mm round, faceted. |
Colors/description: |
Translucent alexandrite with a golden celsian coating. Alexandrite is an unusual color that changes hue depending on the light source. Some alexandrite beads change from light blue to light violet, and others change from pink to violet (I suspect these beads do the latter). By "violet" I mean a reddish purple. |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
The beads appear to be in good shape, although fire-polished beads always have some imperfect facets. |
How photographed: |
Under two daylight-balanced lamps. Note: Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped. Also, the close-up shot may show defects that the human eye can't discern. |
Comments: |
For some reason, not much violet shows up in the picture, although I can see quite a bit with my eyes. The celsian coating is quite strong. The contrast between the violet and the gold is interesting; I definitely like these beads. |
