All fire-polished beads have at least one or two imperfect facets. Fire-polishing is a process by which the beads are heated to make the surface of the beads shiny; but in the process, a small amount of molten glass will run down to a facet on the underside and make one or two facets look a little deformed. They probably try to keep the heat at a level that doesn't cause the glass to become too molten, but it is obviously an imperfect process. In some cases, the beads aren't heated quite enough, which results in a facet or two looking too rough or bumpy. Unfortunately, imperfect facets on opaque beads are more noticeable than on translucent beads, so you're more likely to see the imperfect facets on these beads than on most others. I reduced the price by 50 cents because of that. |

The color of the beads in the picture didn't come out quite right. Right out of the camera, the color was a bright orange-red. I had to shift it towards the pink and darken the picture a little to make the color look more correct, but even then the color isn't quite right. I think the actual color is nicer than what you see in the picture, so you won't be disappointed. However, I'm still not entirely happy with these beads. I much prefer oxblood red, which is a darker, moodier color; fire-engine red has never been my thing. However, if red is your color, you'll probably like them. My pricing formula resulted in a price of $3.30, but I reduced the price to $2.80 because of the imperfect facets (see Defects above). |
