Size/shape: |
20mm (long) x 8mm (wide) x 4.5mm (thick) rectangular beads with a raised flower pattern on both sides. The hole runs through the length. |
Colors/description: |
Beige with a medium-brown picasso coating. The coating is fairly evenly applied, although some beads are darker than the rest. |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
The only defect I've noticed is that some beads have corners that are slightly rounded, but only slightly. The beads have an overall rustic appearance, so the slight rounding isn't noticeable. |
How photographed: |
Under two daylight-balanced lamps. Note: Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped. Also, the close-up shot may show defects that the human eye can't discern. |

I first carried these beads in 2006. Back then (nine years ago!), the beads were much darker, with a much heavier picasso coating. When I received them, I thought about returning them; but my roommate at the time (a woman) liked them, so I kept them. They sold very well, but then they went out of stock at the supplier. Some years later, they appeared on the supplier's site again, but the picture made them look almost black, so I didn't order them. However, I did order them recently, and what I found is that they are significantly lighter than the first batch was. They are now a medium brown. I like the new beads, although I think the picasso coating on the first batch was more interesting. However, the flower pattern is now more visible than it was before. If you like the color brown, I think you'll like these beads. Having said all that, I'm going to be brutally honest and say that I think my picture makes them look a little nicer than they are. I tried to make the picture as accurate as possible, but the actual beads are a little more mono-tone than the picture makes them appear. Even so, I still think they are nice beads, and I think you'll like them. |
