12mm Silky Yellow Picasso Leaf Beads [25]
Style: | G1996 |
Beads per lot: |
25 |
Cost per bead: |
12 cents |
Bead material: |
Glass |
Country of origin: |
Czech Republic |
Size/shape: |
Pressed leaves with imprinted veins on each side in these dimensions -- 12mm (long) x 7mm (wide) x 3.5mm (thick) -- with the hole running sideways through one of the ends (i.e., through the 7mm dimension, not the 3.5mm dimension). |
Colors/description: |
The beads appear to be a mixture of satiny opaque yellow with black and possibly with translucent yellow, on top of which has been applied a dark brown-red mottled "picasso" coating. A mixture of a satiny color with black is a specialty of the Czech manufacturers. The combination of black and an opaque color creates a particular effect which is very lovely. |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
The beads appear to be in good shape. I haven't seen any cracks, although cracks would be hard to see in such complex beads. |
How photographed: | At the window in natural daylight. |
Comments: |
These are yellow beads, but they look somewhat green. When yellow is mixed with black (as I believe is the case with these beads), the yellow takes on a green cast. The supplier's price for these beads was fairly high, but they are worth it. They appear to be premium-quality beads with a very interesting, complex appearance. I hope I can get more of them before the supplier sells out. |
