The beads are not perfectly shaped because they are hand-made. Unfortunately, many of them have a bulge of glaze on one side. The beads that don't bulge too much are being sold at full price, whereas the beads that have a significant bulge are being sold at half-price. What apparently happened was that they applied so much glaze that some of it pooled on the under-side of the beads when they were fired. Since these are premium beads, I am inspecting them individually. However, being hand-made, there may be some small defects that I allow to pass through. The beads have a rustic appearance, so minor defects should not be a problem. |

As stated above, the size of the beads can vary somewhat. These beads are enormous and heavy, heavy enough that they will distort the shape of a necklace if you combine them with significantly lighter beads. Also, they may be too heavy to make into earrings. They are very nice beads, but I wasn't thinking when I ordered them. I honestly don't know what kind of jewelry can be made out of such large beads. |
