Under two daylight-balanced lamps. Note: Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped. Also, the close-up shot may show defects that the human eye can't discern. |

The picture doesn't show it well, but there seems to be a slight variation in darkness or hue from one bead to the next, which creates an appealing mottled look (in other words, I think it is a positive thing). However, this effect may have been created by the matte finish. The fact is, it is very hard to get good pictures of red beads. Digital cameras do not capture red colors well, and LCD monitors (which we all use now) do not reproduce reds well. The beads are far more pleasing than my picture indicates (all the crops are from one image). To the naked eye, the beads look more distinct and have a more pleasing color. |
