Glass beads (either clear or white) with a synthetic dark-blue coating. If you look closely, you will see that there is a thin gold coating on top of the blue coating. I believe, though I am not certain, that the coating on these beads is fire-polished (heated) to make it hard. |

These beads have faded to a darker color since they were purchased, but they are still a deep blue color. They now look like dark-blue beads with a mottled metallic coating. I have reduced the price. |

At the window in natural daylight. Unfortunately, the picture is blurry. I don't know why I used a picture that is not up to my usual standards. |

My picture isn't very good. I took it with my new camera. However, even with a good camera, it is almost impossible to get a good photo of dark, reflective beads. It appears that there may be a mottled metallic coating on the beads. If so, then that means that the beads are meant to imitate lapis. However, imitation lapis beads usually have a mottled gold-colored coating, and this coating looks like gunmetal or hematite. In those areas where the coating is present, the beads just look black. I should also say that the beads aren't as glossy as the picture makes them look. I tried to get a better picture by photographing them under lamp light, but that didn't produce a good picture either. In short, these are not the most attractive blue beads I have ever carried; but if you like dark-blue beads, you may like them. The supplier's price was very high, so my price must be high also. |
