When I bought these beads, I didn't realize that they were artificially coated (meaning that the color is applied in a polymer-based coating). Synthetic coatings that have blue in them, as purple does, may fade (although I haven't seen that happen with the translucent coatings, like this one -- only with the pearls). The price of these beads was very high, which means that my price must be high also. I wouldn't have spent so much for them except that I thought they were solid glass, and I don't often see this color in solid glass beads from the Czech Republic (for some reason, the Czech manufacturers only seem to be able to make beads with -- the color of Czech purple glass is usually more gray and muted. I should say that the rich color seen in the picture is due to the fact that the beads are bunched up. When strung out in a row, the color is not nearly so bright. I am selling them in lots of 80 because they come strung that way. |
