White ceramic beads with a dark-red surface (probably dyed). The surface of the beads is not shiny.
|
Hole size: |
1mm to 1.5mm (estimated).
|
Defects: |
Ceramic beads are never perfect. In this case, the red surface is lighter or darker on some beads. Also, it can appear mottled. In addition, I have noticed that not all beads are pefectly square. However, the consistency is pretty good considering that these are probably hand-made beads.

How photographed: |
Under two daylight-balanced lamps. The close-up shots may show defects that the human eye can't discern.

Comments: |
These beads are from my 1980's stash of beads, when I was making jewelry myself. They are at least 35 years old, and possibly older. My price of $3.00 for a lot of 50 isn't low (especially considering that I have no remembrance of what I paid for them), but I think that these are very good-quality rustic beads. They were a favorite of mine back in the 1980's.
