Glass beads (probably white) with a synthetic greenish-turquoise/black-speckled coating.
|

1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
Some small anomalies can be seen in the coating, such as very find hair lines which occurred when the coating cooled. Also, I estimate that 5% of the beads had chips on the edges before they were coated. 5% is a level of defects that I think is acceptable, so I didn't reduce the price. Also, it is likely that you'll end up using some of those beads.

Comments: |
Synthetically coated glass pearls have been a staple Czech bead for decades, but non-pearl coated beads are only about ten years old. In the beginning, those beads were not well made. The coatings were too soft and could peel off, and sometimes the beads stuck together. But all of that has changed. Many of the newer coated beads are really stunning. These beads have a very bright, pleasing color, and the black speckles are very attractive. I like them so much, I immediately ordered more. Also, the synthetic coating is very hard and feels like glass. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Unfortunately, however, they are from a supplier which has moderatly high prices, so they aren't cheap.
