Size/shape:

12mm (long) x 8mm (wide) x 4mm (thick) flat rectangles with bevelled edges and hand-polished sides.

Colors/description:

Opaque light amethyst (grayish lavender) with a brown picasso coating around the edges.  (See Comments below.)

1mm (estimated).

Defects:

I eliminate seriously defective beads before shipping.  I can't eliminate every bead which has a slight defect, so I use my judgement as to which defects are so serious that the bead can't be used.  Certainly, cracks, deep or long scratches, large pits, partially polished sides, large spots of picasso coating on the sides, and malformations are all enough for me to eliminate a bead.  But I may not eliminate a bead if it has very shallow scratches, small pits, or very small spots of picasso coating on the sides, or other small anomalies that don't ruin the overall appearance.  If you receive any beads with serious defects, that means that I overlooked them, and you should contact me for a pro-rated refund.

Comments:

IMPORTANT:  The new lot of these beads (posted in May, 2012) is made by a new manufacturer.  The beads pictured are the old lot, and the old picture does not represent the new beads quite accurately.  The old beads had a satiny milkiness to the glass which the new beads do not have.  The new beads are a much more even color, with no visible patterns in the glass.  In my opinion, the old beads had a little more charm and character than the new beads, but I don't think you'll find the new beads disappointing.  On the positive side, the new beads have sides that are more highly polished and shiny.  I will eventually post a new picture.
