Bead material: |

Country of origin: |
Czech Republic |
Size/shape: |
4mm round with flutes (grooves). Beads this shape are often called "melon" beads. |
Colors/description: |
A somewhat dull and slightly dark Wedgewood blue with hints of bronze, and a matte finish. |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: |
The beads appear to be in good shape, although they don't all look perfectly uniform in their shape. |
How photographed: |
Under two daylight-balanced lamps. Note: Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped. Also, the close-up shot may show defects that the human eye can't discern. |
Comments: |
These are interesting beads. Presumabley they were given a dark-blue iris coating which was partially washed away in an acid bath, which made the finish look matte. The acid bath lightened them a little so that they are not as dark as dark-blue iris beads usually are. Instead, they are a deep shade of Wedgewood blue with bronze highlights. Important: My picture isn't quite accurate. My lamps made the beads look more sparkly and less dull than the beads actually are. Also, the blue in the picture is ever so slightly more saturated, bright and cheerful than the actual beads. Despite my reservations about the picture, the beads definitely look blue and are very pleasing, in my opinion. |
