These are synthetically coated beads; the coating is some kind of
clear, colored polymer. In other words, the color of these beads is
in the coating, not in the glass. I don't know how durable the coating is,
but I think it
should last for years, though not necessarily for decades. It's
possible that the coating will protect the beads from chips. Here is
