Glass beads (white or clear) with a black synthetic coating.

Defects:

The coating on Czech pearls is fairly thin, and I don't know how durable it will be.  Also, inevitably a few pearls will be missing some coating around one of the holes (a common defect with Czech coated beads).  A few pearls may also have some anomalies in the coating, such as bumps, indentations or a bit of dirt.  I have written a special page about glass pearls and other coated beads; please click here to read it.

Comments:

Very dark pearls don't look very pearly to me, in the sense that the coating doesn't look that lustrous.  However, when compared with uncoated black glass beads, these beads do look a little more lustrous, and the color is not quite as black – more like a very dark charcoal gray.
