Item no.:

F434

Bead material:

glass

Country of origin:

Czech Republic

Size/shape:

4mm (hole to hole) x 7mm (wide) faceted rondels.  Rondels are any round bead which is wider than it is long.

Colors/description:

A mixture of translucent medium amethyst purple and translucent alexandrite.  Alexandrite appears light blue in fluorescent light, and rosy pink or violet in incandescent light and daylight.

Hole size:

1mm (estimated).

Defects:

I haven't noticed any significant defects.  However, fire-polished beads always have some imperfect facets.  To read about the fire-polishing process, click here.

How photographed:

At the window in natural daylight.

Comments:

The alexandrite portion of these beads doesn't seem to have a strong color.  To my eyes, the beads just appear to be a mixture of amethyst and clear glass.  However, I haven't yet examined these beads in good daylight.
